Real heroes are all around us.
Real heroes are our neighbors, friends, and strangers who, for no other reason than to help another in need,
have made a difference in another person's life. They have risked life and limb without really thinking about it.
They only saw where they could make a difference, and acted. These are the true heroes. These are the unheralded
heroes who in most cases do not think that what they have done is heroic, just the right thing, and the only thing, to do.
It's our human nature to choose heroes.
It is in the human nature to choose heroes. But what does it say about us that we adore television and movie stars, athletic
and sports figures, music and pop mega stars and celebrities as our heroes? And what does this teach our children? It used to
be that people such as General Douglas McArthur, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Mother Theresa were the type of people
from which we received our motivation, our inspiration. Real heroes, not the illusion of a hero or pseudohero.
The goal of The Everyday Hero organization is to recognize and reward these individuals for their unselfish acts of bravery.
Through our partners and sponsors, we are in turn going to make a difference in their lives. Whether it be in the form of a
college scholarship for their children, the retirement of their mortgage, helping them achieve their dream of owning a business,
or fulfilling another goal or dream that until now has been unattainable. By doing this, we hope to remind all who hear of these
stories of bravery, of heroism, or the rewards they have received that we indeed are our brother's keeper. Quite simply: We hope
to change the world and how we care about one another.
